So totally out of the blue tonight I had a burning urge to go to Toys-R-Us. I have no idea why. So whipped down there and started wandering the halls only to be drawn to my long lost love… Lego Section!!! And what self respecting Video Game Developer (let alone one that works at BioWare) doesn’t have a love for both Lego and Star Wars…
Anyways long story short, I am now the proud owner of a night of Lego fun and a Tie Fighter

One of the best parts about Edmonton Winters is that almost all of the day light hours are ‘Magic Hours’, in that you have nice long shadowing, soft lighting from the very angled sun and of course perpetual sun rise / sun set weather. Right now the Sun only gets about 30° above the horizon. This week we’re also having yet another ‘warm’ streak of weather around 0°C which combined with the very low humidity here, makes for a very pleasant photo walk. Compared to earlier in January when I attempted to photograph the BrightNights festival when it was -35° and I felt like my hands were about to freeze off.
Anyhoo – Tomorrow will be 2 weeks without smoking – yay me and Sandy! We’re both off the various types of Nicotine replacements, I used the patch for 7 days and Sandy used the Puffer (or ‘nicotine tampon’ as we liked to call it). But after the initial break in Vancouver to not only get us away from our habitual tenancies but also provide a relaxing environment, it is much easier. I still have the pangs of wanting a smoke, hell right now I could really go for one. But this time round it really feels like I don’t actually want one and that it’s just the addiction or the habits talking. In fact I find most of all it’s the associated actions that I’m craving the most. For example, it used to be that as soon as I walked out of the door from work I would light my smoke. So when ever I leave work I have this sudden urge for something. All in all, I have to say that I am damn proud of Sandy and myself! My only fear is that I’m going to get very fat
