78/365 – The Wind

78/365 - The Wind

I think I’m somehow preoccupied with dead plants… I just realized that I’ve posted a number of pictures of plants that have died and dried up. I’m really not that crazy I promise! This little beauty was down by the train tracks from a previous picture I posted. It would seem the wind blew through the corridor between the two buildings the rail road track ran beside and caused this little guy to dry up in such a way. I wonder if it also caused him to die an early death too? Or was it the sudden change in weather conditions Vancouver has seen over the last couple of weeks. Something I’ll never know. In any case this little guy reminds me of my little tomato plant on my balcony who didn’t quite fruit in time for Edmonton’s bitter winter to set in and froze while still trying to make his yummy red treats for me…

77/365 – Knot On A Wire

77/365 - Knot On A Wire

I find barbed wire really interesting to look at. What a very odd invention. A wire built purely for the purpose of inflicting pain on those who would mean to climb over it. Really very simple and highly effective. But wouldn’t it be amazing if the world didn’t need these little knots of pain?

76/365 – The Way I See It

76/365 - The Way I See It

I think one of my favorite reasons for coming back to Vancouver for a weekend is the sheer amount of Starbucks coffee I drink while I’m back here. I know Edmonton has Starbuckies and hell we have Transcend right near BioWare (which is far better and really quite the amazing cafe if you’ve never been and are in Edmonton), but never the less there is something about Vancouver and Starbucks that I just can’t get over. Maybe it’s just the cups?

75/365 – What A Grate Shot eh?

75/365 - What A Grate Shot eh?

Sorry bad pun… I really find mechanical and industrial stuff to be really amazing, however, I still feel that I’ve not yet managed to master capturing the impression they give me yet. Remember that feeling you felt when you first saw the opening to Blade Runner or some other dark sci-fi or post apocalyptic film. It’s that feeling I want to impress upon my viewer. Hmmm more attempts are definitely in order ;)

74/365 – Grass

74/365 - Grass

I always find old grass to be really interesting in how it layers itself and becomes more beautiful in it’s death. I found this gem this morning as I was walking over to Starbucks with Sandy. It was just blowing there lightly in the wind next to the road.
