Further Adventures in the land of film. Saw this sign and found it to be ‘cool’. Something about it really makes me laugh every time I see it, not sure why.

I bought an old EOS 5D (grad daddy to the MkII) Film Body which provided some very cool results! The 1st non-test shot I’ve ever taken on film. The colour interpretation is magnificent. As usual Sandy looks beautiful as ever
If it wasn’t so damn expensive I’d probably switch over to film full time. Unfortunately my scanner also doesn’t support negatives, so I had to stick with the so-so JPG images from London Drugs.
My parents have lived near the Capilano Suspension Bridge for years, yet I’ve never actually been across until Monday. What a wild experience. It’s almost as high as the Statue of Liberty it’s VERY long and quite bouncy. Thankfully it’s also got a chain-link fence down the entire length to stop idiots like me from flying out. On the other side of the bridge there is also an Ewok style system of bridges and platforms that provide an amazing view of the valley and other visitors. Also going at the tail end of winter was a great idea. Very few tourists and the cold kept the ones that were there mostly quiet and low energy. When we initially went in we all commented on how bloody expensive it was ($25.00 each) yet after two and a half hours of hanging around looking at the sights I think we all realized that we got a good value out of it. Finally we had to leave to get back to pack and hop on the plane back to Edmonton. I must say thanks again to my Mom and Dad for hosting us rowdy bunch and lending us the Fluff Mobile for the week. And a big thanks to Alex and Ben for putting up with Sandy and I while we nic-fitted all weekend
So it’s Sunday and we’re back at Granville Island. Funniest part is that it was all quite accidental. Our original intention was to grab a coffee from Agro Cafe and head over to see my Grandmother who is staying in False Creek right now. Unfortunately the beauty of the day caught us and we ended up walking around the island again for a few hours. The tones and colours of that Island really are amazing.
I still can’t decide on a name for this piece.
Saturday the gang and I attended a interior design photography course given by Aura McKay and Barry Calhoun. The first half of the day was spent learning some theory and enjoying Aura’s fantastic enthusiasm. The second half of the day is where the real fun began. We split off into a few teams and got our assignments. Barry was our instructor and he really let loose on us. The team I was on was the ‘ProAm’ team, which meant I was gunning around all day with lighting and tilt shift lenses rather then point and shoot basics ![]()
Just to point out – Tilt Shift is mighty bloody cool.
