I was trying to explain over the phone how to build a lightbox to my Mom, here is the test shot that it created. This then led me to do a quick YouTube video on how I create product shots. Thanks to Alex who was behind the camera the whole time.

The weather is biting cold, vacation has started, done a ton of shopping, started drinking Eggnog Lattes… It must be Christmas time!
And that means going away to see our family’s. This year we’re headed to Vancouver to see my folks for a week. Should be nice, the weather there is a roasting 0°C – Compared to Edmonton’s -25°C + Wind Chill (and boy is it windy today!). I’m really hoping to be able to get out and do some photowalks with my new lenses as well as try some new techniques. It’ll also be nice to connect with Jeff and Ash again, it feels like years since I’ve seen them. Christmas around my parents house is always interesting too, usually it’s like grand central station, with all our extended family coming and going. I also usually bring back a cadre of friends to sleep in my Parent’s basement, this year however, it’s just Sandy and I. Mostly because I think we’re looking for some much needed rest and relaxation. It’s been a tough and busy couple of months and I know I could use the break.
In any case, I probably will be somewhat sparse in my photo updates but I will definately be taking lots!
Also, feel free to check out my new website layout : http://www.gtez.com I’d love some feedback and critiques. Bear in mind It’s still a work in progress as I slapped it together in about an hour last night.
I hope if you’re reading this you’ll have a happy and safe holidays.
Best wishes from Sandy and I.

First post on the new site!
I decided to create an entirely new website geared towards photography and photo-blogging. My plan is to utilize Flickr to drive as much of the site as possible. To do this, I chose WordPress as the backend, a couple Flickr plugins, a couple Twitter plugins, and jury rigged a theme to match my photography style. From now on, I’ll be converting my Project 365 to a Photoblog which I think should work well.
